Developed in the 1930s and 1950s, the Hercules Pen Gun was designed for use with prepared gas rounds, blank rounds loaded with riot agents, and live ammo, with rapidly swappable barrels depending on intention. Constructed chiefly from aluminum alloy, the pen gun has an overall length of 4 7/8 inches, with the Hercules address and model markings on the body, a knurled cocking knob for the spring loaded firing pin assembly, and a frame notch safety. The barrel is aluminum, unrifled, and marked for gas rounds only, with a muzzle diameter of .373. NOTE: This weapon is registered as a National Firearms Act (NFA), AOW (Any Other Weapon). Although NOT a fully automatic weapon it is still controlled like a NFA weapon that is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
