Description:

Included in the lot is a framed cabinet card style photograph print of a semi-nude woman wearing a shear robe. This photograph has been often attributed as Josephine Sarah Marcus Earp, wife of the famous Wyatt Earp. Some information indicates that Josephine may have started her life in the west as a prostitute, which would help explain such a scantily-clad photograph by 19th century standards. A portion of the photograph was used on the cover of the book "I Married Wyatt Earp", which was written by Josephine, and a copy of which is included. The cabinet card is marked "KALOMA" at the bottom center, and "COPYRIGHT/1914-P.N.CO." in the bottom right. It measures 18 3/4" x 11 3/4" including the frame. Very good, the print showing minimal wear and some scattered minor handling marks on the frame. The book is very fine.
