This is an exceptional example of an original unaltered Colt Commercial Ace .22 automatic pistol complete with the original matching shipping carton, and matching serial numbered factory target. The pistol has the standard, high polish, pre-war finish, two-tone magazine and checkered walnut stocks with the early Ellison adjustable rear sight. The serial number, "2207" is located on the right side of the frame above the trigger. The left side of the trigger guard bow is stamped with the Colt "V/P" proof mark along with a Colt sub inspector "3" proof. The left side of the slide is marked with the extended, two-line Hartford address and 1897-1913 patent dates with the Colt Rampant Horse trade mark located behind the markings but in front of the slide serrations. The right side of the slide has the distinctive Colt "ACE" markings. The magazine floor plate is marked "COLT/ACE/22 L.R.". The royal maroon cardboard carton has the serial of the pistol (2207) and the test target (U-72) lightly written in pencil on the bottom and the test target has the corresponding number "U-72" correctly written on the front along with the Colt Factory information.

Excellent overall, with approximately 97% original factory blue finish that has primarily thinned/faded or worn off the front grip strap exactly where someone's finger would wrap around the grips. Otherwise the pistol would have rated a solid 98%+ finish with only minor wear on the front edges of the slide, the edges and high spots. The grips are in excellent condition with nice sharp diamonds with only one minor chip of the grip on the right side at the bottom. The box is in excellent condition showing most of the unfaded original factory Maroon color with some light scuffing and wear on the corners with upper edge (the hinge edge) showing some more wear and a couple of the corners have pulled apart. As noted the test target and box are matched to the pistol.
