Description:

Canadian Ross Mark II bolt action rifle with U.S. Army "Ordnance bomb / U.S." property markings stamped on the underside of the stock behind the trigger guard. This rifle is possibly one of the Ross rifles purchased by the U.S. Army for training purposes. Shortly after the United Sates entered WWI in 1917. The left side of the receiver is marked "ROSS RIFLE CO. QUEBEC CANADA. 1905 / PATENTED". The right side of the butt stock is stamped with the Ross circular cartouche and numerous issue and inspection markings. The front sight is a hooded blade sight and the rear sight is adjustable for windage and elevation. Bayonet lug, casehardened bolt and brass oiler in the buttstock compartment. The bayonet is marked "Ross Rfile Co. Quebec Patented 1907" on the top right of grip. Complete with a tan canvas Kerr sling and Ross knife bayonet with russet leather scabbard.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The barrel retains 95% of the blue finish with wear on the muzzle and scuffs on top of the barrel. The receiver retains approximately 70% of the original thinning finish with the breech area more of a smooth grayish patina. The bolt retains 95% of the casehardened colors. The bolt handle is a smooth gray patina. The stock is excellent with numerous scattered minor dings, scratches, and dents. All of the stock markings are very crisp. The sling is excellent with some light staining. The bayonet is excellent overall.
