Pistol serial number falls in the Showa 20.7 (1945July) range. Grips are of the slab late war. Pistol was probably either an effort to make the rejected barrel useable through a bolt modification, or an expedient intended to reduce production efforts. Magazine is unnumbered. This is a truly high prized addition to any Japanese collection. Pistol is photographed and described on page 161 of 'Japanese Military Cartridge Handguns 1893-1945'.

Excellent overall with approximately 98% original blue. A very rare and unique "Last Ditch" prototype Type 14 that would enhance any automatic pistol collection. Grips are excellent.
