Description:

1) 30 inch diamond shaped straight blade marked "THE / PETTIBONE / BROS. / MFG. Co / CINTI.O." on the left ricasso. Both sides of the blade are etched for 16 inches, with the eagle on the right side. There is another eagle at the pommel and a much larger one on the counterguard in front. The cross guard, quillion and knuckle bow have sculpted floral decoration. The plated iron scabbard has brass fittings to match the hilt. 2) 28 inch diamond shaped blade etched "ROUNDY REGALIA CO. / CHICAGO ILL" on the left ricasso. No etching on the blade other than the name and Eagles on the pommel and counterguard. The iron scabbard has gilt brass mounts and one hanger chain.

Rating Definition:

1) The blade is good with considerable wear and some light pitting. The hilt has a dark patina. The grip is poor with cracks and repairs to the shagreen covering. The wire is missing. Only traces of finish remain on the scabbard which has a spotty brown patina. 2) Fair to good with gray patina on the blade, dark patina on the hilt, some wear and chipping on the grip. The wire is still intact. The scabbard still has 70% blue mixed with shots of rust. Heavy and rusted at the tip.
