Description:

This is a nice example of a rare post-War "SVW" coded P38. The "SVW" markings are the late, last wartime code as used by the Mauser factory, going into effect for the last months of the war. After the surrender of Germany the French took over the Mauser factory and continued to use and produce P38s using this code with a French Star acceptance proof on the slide. The left side of the slide is marked with the large "P.38" next to the "SVW/ 45" with the serial number on the rear of the slide in front of the safety lever. The right side of the slide has the French star in place of the acceptance and waffenamt proofs. The left side of the barrel lug and locking block are marked with the star. The magazine is marked on the left side with "P.38v". The grips are serrated metal. With black leather breakaway flap holster with two stamped box proofs inside the flap, "Mdj" and one indecipherable, and "Leteferer-Nr./ 1828 below it, and an extra magazine, with "P38" on the left side, "jvd" and "Eagle/ WaA106" on the spine, and "3494" stamped on the base.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with approximately 98% of the original blue finish. There are a few light handling marks, some wear on the gripstrap and high edges, and a slight offset to the front sight. The grips are excellent, with a few dings and dents. The action is excellent. The holster is very fine, with a few scratches and light cracking.
