Description:

Made in 1883 and according to the accompanying factory letter it was shipped to J.P. Moore's Sons in New York on April 1st, 1884. The factory letter also confirms the guns configuration. Blade front sight on barrel with a barely legible address on top and no visible markings on the left side, and "44" on the underside of the barrel. Two line, three date patent markings on the frame with no Rampant Colt. Cylinder is marked "L" on the rear face, and the left front of the trigger guard bow is marked "44.C.F.". Smooth two piece hard rubber grips with Eagles at the base and Rampant Colt logos at the top.

Rating Definition:

Good, with a gray patina over the surface (which was cleaned many years ago) and some pitting overall. There are also a few light handling marks and traces of the original finish in the protected areas. The eagle rubber grips are almost entirely worn smooth, with a few scratches and dents. The action is excellent. A well used Old West Frontier Six Shooter that would make a good companion piece to a Winchester Model 1873 Saddle Ring Carbine in 44-40.
