Factory letter confirms configuration and was shipped to "Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co. Chicago Illinois". This gun was shipped December 10, 1898 and was one of two in the shipment. The top of the barrel is marked "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. Co. HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A." and the left side is marked (BISLEY MODEL) 32 COLT. Flat top model features raised target brass insert front sight with a flat top strap and dovetail rear sight. The trigger guard is marked with the factory rework "&" on the right side of the trigger guard. The frame is marked with the standard three patent date in front of the circled Rampant Colt. The screws and trigger are finished in a fancy niter blue. Serial numbers on frame, trigger guard, and backstrap all match. Wide, low hammer spur with wide trigger and characteristic "humpback" grip. Checkered hard rubber grips with rampant colt emblem at the top.

Period refinished. Approximately 95% of the high polish reblue remains with some thinning on the top as well scattered surface scratches down the length of the barrel. The frame retains 98% reblue with some scattered surface scratches and a few isolated handling marks. The grips are good to very good and fit a little tight with a few light blemish and dings. Mechanically needs minor work, although it does function.
