Description:

The 31 -5/8 inch triple fuller, clip point blade was made by "F. HORSTER/ SOLINGEN" and is so marked on the left ricasso. The left side of the blade is etched with military trophies above and below the crowned eagle with a shield on its breast bearing a cross. The right side has the same floral etching interspersed with military trophies, a state crest in the center and an eagle under a star with the organizational name "UNIONE/ MILITARE/ ROMA" at the base. The iron guard and scabbard have been nickel plated and both carry the number 165. The guard has an additional number 7 on the opposite side of the blade. The sword knot is dark blue cloth with gold skirt over the blue fringe of the knot.

Rating Definition:

Fine overall with little wear and only a few widely scattered spots of pitting, mostly on the scabbard. The out knuckle guard is slightly bent. A small section of the gold skirt is missing from the knot. One of the throat screws is missing.
