Description:

This is a copy of a first subvariation, German Navy "K" dated S/42 luger. There were early "K" date Lugers that were produced in four distinct subvariations, with approximately only 1700 produced in this first block. The pistol has been remarked with the Script "S" markings on all the parts including the "S/42" markings on top of the toggle. Based on the data in Jan Still's book "Third Reich Luger", this luger was manufactured right at the very end of the serial number block. The top of the chamber has the distinctive "K" markings indicating that it was produced in 1934 when the Germans began their full scale rearmament efforts. These early production Lugers used letter codes to hide initial production. The top of the toggle has both the small script "S" proof and also the script "S/42" proofs indicating manufacture at the Mauser factory. The right side of the barrel extension has the double "O/37" proofs next to the early drooped wing Mauser Eagle proof, with the same markings on the left side and underneath of the barrel. The front grip strap has the correct stamped Navy property markings of "O.1801" and the left side of the frame has the large early German Navy Eagle over "M" engraved/panagraphed markings (which are questionable). All of the small part have the correct small Script "S" markings. It has walnut checkered grips and is complete with early nickel plated Luger magazine with the script "S" markings and matching number on the base.

Rating Definition:

Professionally remarked/restored with 99% of the blued and straw colored parts. The markings are very clear and sharp overall, except for the right side of the barrel extension which are a little faint. The grips are in very good original condition with the typical very small professional repair under the safety lever. It has all matching numbers except the firing pin which has the script "S" proof ,but is numbered 37.
