Description:

Imperial Luger Pistol manufactured at Erfurt, the Prussian owned arms factory, during WWI. The pistol chamber is dated "1918" and the toggle is marked with the distinctive "Crown / ERFURT" logo. The pistol was subsequently reworked to police specifications by the addition of a sear safety and magazine safety (absent). The pistol has a dull blue finish with straw colored small parts. The stocks are finely checkered walnut . The magazine has a plated body and wooden base serial numbered to the gun. The pistol serial number and suffix are located on the front of the frame and underside of the barrel and the left side of the receiver without the suffix. The partial serial number, "79" is stamped on most of the small components. All of the serial numbers match. The right side of the receiver is stamped with three "Crown/gothic letter" Army acceptance marks followed by the Imperial Eagle. The "Crown/ RC" rework stamp is marked on the left frame rail. The left side of the toggle link is also stamped with the Imperial Eagle. Typical of Erfurt pistols, a small "Crown/gothic letter" acceptance mark is stamped on all of the small parts. The front strap is marked "K. L.J. (backwards) 58.". Most marks are highlighted in white The backstrap is cut for a shoulder stock. Complete with a brown leather holster, ( the front has been dyed black). The maker's mark and "1917" is on the back of the holster between the belt loops and the inside of the flap has ink markings, one is unreadable and one " Temmlon".

Rating Definition:

The pistol has been arsenal refinished again after the initial rework and retains most of the dull blue/black dip finish with scattered overall minor pitting has been finished over. The straw colored parts are a smooth dark mottled patina. The grips are good with light to moderate wear to the checkering, and a few minor bruises. The left panel has a small crack at the screw and is not tight fitting. All marks are legible. Mechanically sound. The holster is good. It has been cut down from an artillery holster and is dyed black on the front. It shows moderate wear/use and all the stitching is tight.
