Description:

This is a nice example of a very late WWII M1A1 Paratrooper carbine. The carbine is marked on the front of the receiver "US CARBINE CAL 30 M1" and the rear is marked under the rear sight "INLAND DIV" over the seven digit serial number. The barrel is marked "INDLAND MFG. DIV. GENERAL MOTORS 11-44, which indicates it as being a very late paratrooper carbine. The stock itself is a early high wood version that is unmarked inside, but it has a correct folding metal wire stock with an original leather cheek piece with steel rivets with a cast in number followed by the "X" in a circle proof and a "6" in the folding buttplate, (all hard to discern). The bottom of the pistol grip is marked with a "RI and B" proof and the hand guard is a early two rivet version that is marked with a "HI" on the underside. The various parts are "HI, PI, IO or Inland" marked and most of the smaller parts in the trigger housing are the correct WWII parts such as the push button safety, and "M" magazine catch. It has the late WWII style improvements such as the type three barrel band, adjustable rear sight, round bolt and it is complete with a earlier WWII style canvas sling, but it is missing the magazine.

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall with 95% of a late green GI parkerized finish with wear or thinning on the exposed section of barrel, the right side of the receiver rail, the ends of the bolt and the tip of the handle of the operating slide. The wood is in excellent with minor handling marks and clear marks on the underside of the pistol grip.
