Description:

This is a very rare and desirable "Gas Trap" M1 Garand receiver that was subsequently rebuilt for the Korean or Vietnam War. The receiver is marked "US RIFLE CAL 30 M1" over "SPRINGFIELD ARMORY" over the five digit serial number, which places the receiver as being manufacture in approximately June/July 1940. This was a late, tail end production Gas Trap rifle. The balance of the parts are all late production or post-war versions. The barrel is marked "SA-D6535448 4-53 A193A" and the operating rod is a late "NM" version that has the "7790722-RA" drawing number and "NM" markings on top of the cocking handle. The gas cylinder is the post-war version with the wide base and the high hump gas cylinder lock. The hand guards are postwar beech and the walnut stock is marked with a "P" proof in front of grip, with a "041" stamped on left of stock. It is complete with a GI green canvas sling that is marked "S.M. Co. 1945."

Rating Definition:

Near mint as arsenal refurbished/rebuilt overall with 98-99% late gray GI reparkerized finish. Stock has been lightly sanded, restained and oiled with a few light scratches and handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
