Description:

This is an example of a late WWII production M1 carbine that was manufactured by the Underwood Typewriter Company. This was one of the lesser produced carbines that was a war expedient measure. The rear of the receiver is marked "UNDERWOOD" over the serial number and the front of the barrel is also marked "UNDERWOOD", 1-44 / Ordnance Bomb" and a single "P" proof. The carbine appears to have the correct parts: type three barrel band and bayonet lug, flat bolt, late style stamped adjustable rear sight, two rivet hand guard, and flip safety. The stock is late version with the oval cutout and it is marked with a boxed "GHD / UEF" and Cross-cannon cartouche on the right side. It is complete with a commercial web sling. The magazine is missing.

Rating Definition:

Arsenal refurbished overall with 98% of the late light gray parkerized finish overall with light wear on the sides of the receiver and top edges of the bolt from hand cycling. The stock and hand guard are both walnut and have a nice matching dark brown color but show numerous pressure dents and dings from field use. There is a small import mark on the underside front portion of the barrel.
