A semi-automatic version of the M-16 rifle, added to the Colt line in 1988 and produced before the 1994 Assault Weapon Ban. Semi-hooded pin front sight and improved two leaf folding A2 adjustable rear sight. The barrel is equipped with a flash hider, heat shield, and bayonet lug, and is marked "C MP 5.56 NATO 1/7". The lower receiver has the Rampant Colt imprint, AR-15 markings (indicating pre-1989 manufacture), standard controls, and shell deflector. Smooth four position telescoping stock with checkered pistol grip, sling mounts and black canvas sling.
