This model was designed by T.C. Johnson and was the first of the slide action hammerless shotguns built by Winchester, enjoying great success with over 1,900,000 sold. This high quality, well made shotgun is still in use in the hunting and shooting fields across the country. All Model 12's are of the takedown variety. Manufactured in 1923, this features a single bead sight on a 25 inch nickel steel barrel. Marked as a full choke, but measuring as an improved cylinder. Grooved forearm and plain pistol grip stock with a black plastic checkered buttplate marked "WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO." in a circle. The front end of the gun has been refinished, and so has the buttstock.

Partially refinished with about 60% original blue on the action, worn on the top. The barrel, magazine tube and ring have about all of the refinished blue with scattered scuffs and scratches. The wood has been repaired and refinished. The action is fine.
