Description:

This is a good example of a WWII No 1 MK3 British Enfield rifle as manufactured by the BSA Co that has Canadian issue proof marks. Marked "crown / G.R / BSA. Co. / 1915 / Sht LE / III" on the right side of the stock socket. The rear sight on the rifle ahs several numbers, none correct, but the original leaf accompanies the gun. The rifle has a walnut buttstock with a beech forend and handguards that have been stained dark to resemble walnut. The forend is serial numbered to match the rifle and the buttstock has several British proofs on the underside around the pistol grip. The top of the receiver ring has a double set of serial numbers, one that has been lined out and another that matches the bolt and forend/front sight protector. The left side of the buttsocket is stamped "ENGLAND". The broad arrow inside a "C" Canadian issue mark is on top of the receiver. The rifle is complete with an original early pattern 1907 dated bayonet with dark walnut scales. It has a leather scabbard and a British issue web sling marked with a Broad Arrow proof over "HB" and "D, Broad Arrow, D". The bayonet blade is marked "crown / 1907 / WILKINSON". The obverse is marked with several British acceptance proof marks and a single Broad Arrow proof.

Rating Definition:

Very good overall with 98% of a nicely arsenal dipped blue/black finish. Overall the wood is in excellent condition with minimal or no handling marks. The bayonet is in good condition overall with a nice polished blade that has been just very lightly sharpened, which shows the correct polish line in front of the crossguard. The leather scabbard is also in good condition with 20% of the blued finish on the throat and tip with a dark oily leather section.
