This is an early example that has the external markings on the right side plate that is marked with the four intertwined cannon balls of the Koishikawa Arsenal and the Kanji markings underneath. There are no other markings on the outside of the pistol. The grips are checkered beech, (the right grip panel is missing), with a lanyard ring on the butt. It is complete with the original WWII Leather Type 26 clamshell holster.

Good. The revolver retains approximately 80% finish with thinning on the barrel and overall minor scratches and pitting on the upper, rear of the frame and buttplate. The remaining grip panel is in good condition with moderate wear and a few minor nicks. All markings are crisp. The holster is very good except for a hole punched in the clamshell. The carrying straps are missing.

The right side of the frame has the four intertwined cannon ball symbol for the Koishikawa Arsenal, over the Kanji markings for Type 26 over the serial number. The holster is the very scarce original prewar all leather version that is similar to the Nambu in that it has the large flap cover and underneath there is a small ammunition pouch on the front.

Good. There are traces of original blue finish in protected areas with the remaining metal surfaces cold blued. The grips are very good with moderate wear and a few minor dings. All markings are clear. The holster is good with some heavy wear and a small area of loose stitching on the flap, the rest of the stitching is tight
