Description:

This is a nice example of a very scarce Early production Type 14 Nambu pistol as manufactured at the Nagoya Army Arsenal at the Chigusa factory. These early pistols are very hard to fine in any condition as they saw considerable use throughout the war. As noted these early pistols were produced with only the very small factory markings on the lower section of the frame. This pistol was produced in Sept 1927 and is marked with a Showa date of 2.9 on the right side of the lower frame, with the smaller Nagoya arsenal mark to the rear of the frame with the two sub inspector marks in front of the showa date. It still retains the small trigger guard, all blued and straw colored parts, beech wood grips with 25 serrations, early knurled cocking knob, polished bolt and nickel plated magazine. The most interesting feature of the pistol is that it was NEVER modified for the magazine safety that was conducted in the 1940 era. It has a blued magazine with the aluminum extruded base and is complete with an early style leather holster, shoulder strap and cleaning rod.

Rating Definition:

Good to fine overall with 85-90% of the original blue finish turning a dark brown patina overall with wear and thinning on the grip straps, trigger guard around the barrel and general edges and high spots overall. The grips are dark and oily with some heavier pressure dents and dings the right side and a section/sliver of wood missing at the top front edge by the magazine release button from actual use. The holster has nice tight stitching overall with very good color on the flap and body with the usual scuffing on the corners of the flap and light scratches in various places. The shoulder strap is also in near excellent condition being nice and pliable with minor surface marks and wrinkling of the leather in some places. Based on the overall condition it appears to have been an actual WWII used pistol that probably saw early use.
