This is a 1944 production rifle as manufactured by the Mauser Factory. The top of the receiver ring is marked "byf" the wartime code for the Mauser factory and "44" for the year of manufacture. The right side of the receiver is marked with two Eagle 135 proofs and the left side is stamped with the large firing proof and "Mod.98". The rear of the barrel is marked with a firing proof, the serial number, "i", "5", and an Eagle/ 135 proof. It has the late war stamped triggerguard, floorplate and barrel bands. Smooth pistol grip laminated stock with cupped buttplate. With a reproduction brown leather sling and muzzle protector.

Excellent, with approximately 98% of the original finish remaining. There are a few light handling marks, and some wear on the high edges. The floorplate has faded and lost some of the blue. The stock is excellent, with small scratches in several areas on the right side, and some light finish loss with light sanding on the lower area in front of the buttplate. It has matching numbers except the handguard.
