Nice example of a J. P. Sauer & Sons K-98 rifle. The top of the receiver is marked "147/ 1940" while the right side of the receiver is marked with one "Eagle/ 359" and two "Eagle/ 37" proofs. The left side of the receiver and barrel both have the Nazi Eagle acceptance proof. Earlier milled barrel bands, trigger guard and floor plate. The left side of the barrel and receiver, bottom of the stock, buttplate, bolt handle and rear sight base have the full serial number with suffix. The sight blade and slide, bolt head, safety, triggerguard, floorplate, and front barrel band have all four digits but no suffix. The extractors, front sight blade, magazine follower and bolt release have the last two digits. The cleaning rod is numbered "59" but has the Eagle/ 37 proof which appears on virtually all parts, including some that are not numbered. There are three "Eagle/359" proofs on the right side of the sight base. The metal latch on the sling is marked "18F". Laminated hardwood pistol grip stock with matching upper handguard, marked with the Nazi Eagle/ H proof and WaA37 proof on the right side of the butt and the underside of the pistol grip., and a flat metal buttplate. With brown leather sling.

Very fine, with approximately 75% of the original blue finish. There is a gray and brown patina on the barrel bands, triggerguard, and the rear of the bolt., along with some light wear and handling marks. The stock is good, with some cracking on the buttstock and along the right side, along with some chipping and varnish loss. The sling and action are both excellent.
