Description:

This is a very nice example of a prewar Mauser contract rifle manufactured for the government of Argentina. These are marked on top of the receiver ring with the large Argentina crest and the left side of the receiver is marked "MAUSER MODELO / ARGENTINO 1909", and the receiver side wall is marked " DEUTSCHE WAFFEN UND / MUNITIONSFABRIKEN, BERLIN". The rear sight graduates to 2,000 meters and the top of the slide has a small "anchor" proof which may indicate that it belonged to the Argentine Navy. The right side of the buttstock has a large "clasped hands" Argentina acceptance proof and the pistol grip, lower stock area and top of the handguard have a small circled "RA" proof. It has the bright polished receiver and bolt with the remaining parts nicely blued, including niter blue on the bolt latch and rear sight. The stock and forearm are a nice honey colored light walnut with sling swivels. It is complete with a muzzle cover and cleaning rod. All serial numbers match including the stock

Rating Definition:

Excellent. Approximately 98% plus of the original blue remains with some thinning on the barrel bands, and some scattered minor dings on the barrel. The buttplate is a smooth silver with a small area of discoloration. The receiver and bolt remain bright with some scattered very minor discoloration. The stock is excellent, with scattered minor dings and scuffs. A very nice Mauser contract rifle.
