This is a late post war Model 49 semi-automatic rifle as produced by FN Herstal for the country of Venezuela. This was the first successful attempt by FNH to produce a semi-automatic rifle after WWII. This rifle has the Venezuelan crest on the receiver ring. The right side of the receiver is marked "FABRIQUE NATIONALE D' ARMES DE GUERRE_HERSTAL BELGIQUE" and the serial number. The left side of the receiver has the rare milled dovetail slot for the sniper scope base (the complete base, mount and scope are not included). The pistol grip stock and handguard are walnut and it has the smooth metal buttplate. The right side of the buttstock is marked " FUERZAS ARMADAS VENEZUELA" amid two circles. It is complete with the screw-on flash suppressor, bayonet lug, a ten shot box magazine, and a canvas military style sling.

Good. The rifle retains approximately 60% of the original finish with overall scattered flaking and edge wear. The buttplate and magazine show areas of moderate spotting and there is a small area of spotting on the top of the bolt. The stock is fair with numerous small nicks gouges and scratches. There is a 3 inch shallow gouge on the right side of the buttstock and a large piece of the toe missing. The sling is good with tight stitching and some minor stains. All markings are clear. Mechanically fine.
