The rifle has a full-length, military pattern, forearm with grasping grooves and a steel end cap. The buttstock and forearm are oil-finished walnut. The left side of the barrel is marked with the two line Winchester address/ patent markings behind the lower barrel band and caliber "22 SHORT" just ahead of the receiver. The upper receiver tang is marked "-TRADE MARK- / -WINCHESTER- / -REG.U.S.PAT.OFF.& FGN-" in three lines. The serial number is located on the lower receiver tang between the tang screws. The Winder Musket was the primary Army .22 caliber gallery practice rifle from about 1918 until the early 1920s.

Rating Definition:

Fine. All metal parts except the receiver are a smooth dark patina with some very light spotting on the barrel. The receiver retains approximaetly 75% of the faded original blue finish with edge wear, a couple of small areas of light pitting and some brown patina. The wood is fine with a few scattered light dings and dents. Markings are clear, the action is excellent.
