Description:

Eddystone M1917 rifle with "8-18" dated barrel. The rifle has a dark, blue-black, finish with oiled walnut stock and handguards. The rifle appears to be in original condition, the Eddystone "E" mark is visible on almost all components including the stock and hand guard. The only visible non-Eddystone component is the "R" marked Remington rear sight leaf. The receiver is marked: "U.S./MODEL OF 1917/EDDYSTONE/613169". The barrel is marked "E/ordnance bomb/8-18". The ordnance bomb is stamped on the left side of the receiver. Eagle head ordnance final inspection stamps re located on the stock behind the trigger guard and ahead of the floor plate. The underside of the bolt handle is stamped with an "E".

Rating Definition:

Partially arsenal overhauled with the barreled action original. The rifle retains close to 95% of the dull, blue-black finish on the receiver with the trigger guard assembly parkerized. Markings on the barrel, receiver and stock are clear. The stock and handguard are in excellent overall condition with only minor handling wear. Unaltered M1917 Rifles are very difficult to find. This appears to be a substantially original example of an Eddystone M1917 Rifle.
