Description:

This is an excellent example of one of the very RARE WWII Escape and Evasion survival tool sets that were issued to downed Airman, OSS and SOE agents. This set consists of four (4) Gold coins and three (3) wedding rings, two of which appear to be Gold and one is made of Copper. Three of the Gold coins are British and are marked on the front "GEORGES V D.C. BRITT:OMN:REX: F.D.IND:IMP:" with a bust of King George on the front and the back depicts King George killing the Dragoon. The first British coin is a little larger than a nickel and is dated 1927 on the back, while the other two are the size of a penny and are dated 1914 and 1919 on the back. The other Gold coin is a 20 Franc piece and is marked on the front of the coin "REPUBLQUE F. R. AN CAISE" and the back is marked "LIBERT EGALITE FRATERNITE" around the circumference these same markings are on the edge of the coin. The front has a bust of Liberty on it and the back has a Rooster in the center and it dated 1912.The ring set consists of three wedding rings. The two narrower rings have a floral pattern on the side with the other wider ring smooth and unadorned. Each ring is Hallmarked inside, the smallest has what appears to be a "P&L 333" the other two have a "GT 333". Everything is housed in a hard rubber storage case that has cutouts for each of the coins and the ring that has a lead identification plate in the center with a serial number of "662". The outside of the case is marked "IF FOUND RETURN TO ComNAV AIRLANT (CNAL 34) over NORFOLK VA." and it also has the same serial number "662" on the outside.

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall with the coins having nice clear sharp markings on the front and backs and the rings also have nice clear floral designs. The hallmarks are very readable and the case is also in excellent condition. A super RARE E&E survival set that should be further researched and documented.
