Description:

Luciano Bosis got his start in gunmaking with Galesi and Perazzi before setting out on his own in 1977. Since then he has created some of the finest guns to come out of Italy and has built a reputation for excellence, and this fine gun is no exception. Built with blued steel chopperlump barrels featuring a single nickel bead sight on the matted flat solid rib, "LUCIANO BOSIS - BRESCIA - ITALY" marked on the left of the upper tube, light engraved border around the upper chamber and breech, import mark on the lower tube under the forend, and 2009 dated Italian proofs showing 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The barrels are fitted to a highly attractive coin finished and well tuned sidelock action which displays exceptional deeply cut broad leafy scroll engraving and floral bouquets over a darkened background creating a fine contrast. The engraving surrounds a "L. BOSIS" signature banner on the left lockplate, a "TITANIUM" banner on the right, and a crest showing a pair of rampant lions over "E. SCARAVELLI/BRESCIA" on the underside, a retailer mark for Armeria Scaravelli Emilio, a famous gun shop in Brescia. The engraving then continues onto the toplever which has a gold inlaid coronet, the triggerguard, and both tangs with the lower showing the serial number in gold. The triggerplate is signed to the right of the triggerguard "MUFFOLINI" for Italian Master Engraver Stefano Muffolini. The gun features a single trigger and a tang mounted manual safety. The wood is fabulous with fantastic figure and fine multi-point checkering on the forend which shows matching engraved and coin finished fittings and a gold inlaid Bosis emblem along with the pistol grip stock which features a red rubber recoil pad. Included is an oak & leather with canvas cover and containing a pair of snap caps and a nickel oiler. Barrel and stock measurements (U/O): bore diameter nine inches from the breech both proofed at 18.5mm (.728 inches) and both measured .731 inches; choke constriction .019/.030 inches; minimum wall thickness .030/.027 inches; 1 5/16 inch drop at comb; 1 15/16 inch drop at heel; 2 1/8 inch length of pull; cast-off; weight 6 lbs. 13 oz.

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue and coin finishes with only minor handling evidence on the metal surfaces. The wood is also excellent showing a few minor scratches, some light discoloration to the recoil pad, and sharp checkering. The case is very fine. Mechanically excellent. Do not miss this shot at one of the finest guns Italian gunmaking has to offer!
