Manufactured in 1955. Fitted with Lyman 77R front and 48 peep rear sights. The left side of the barrel is marked with the Winchester address and model marking with the caliber hand stamped on the top near the breech. "WP" proofs are marked on the barrel and receiver. The straight tang receiver is marked with the Winchester trademark on the left and serial number on the right ring. Mounted in a straight grain walnut pistol grip target stock with accessory slots on the underside of the forearm, sling loops, and blued steel checkered buttplate. The rifle is discuss and pictured on page 305 of "The Rifleman's Rifle" by Roger Rule, in which he states that this rifle was built as a "tool room" rifle for outdoor author Warren Page to his caliber specifications and also that it is part of the author's collection. Warren Page amassed a large following in the gun writing world as the editor of Field and Stream magazine. He was also an avid outdoorsman and competition shooter, founding the National Benchrest Shooting Championship. It is likely, given the prevalence of 6 MM cartridges in benchrest shooting, that Page used this rifle in those early championships. Provenance: The Warren Page Collection; The Roger C. Rule Collection

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retaining 97% plus original blue finish with limited handling marks and an attractive plum coloration on the barrel. Stock is very fine with some dings and scratches and a hairline crack at the left side of the forend. Mechanically excellent. This is your chance to add a custom tool room rifle made for iconic author and outdoorsman Warren Page!
