Description:

John Christie of Stirling and Doune was a gunmaker in the 1750s-1760s and also worked in partnership with other local gunsmiths. The pistol has a two-part, multi-stage barrel with a flared muzzle section and a notch for a rear sigh. The lock is signed "Io/CHRISTIE" and has some scroll engraving. The remainder of the pistol is plain. A belt hook is fitted to the left side. The metal stock has a rounded pommel.

Rating Definition:

Good with mostly bright cleaned metal surfaces, some mild pitting, a few cracks and braised repairs, and general mild wear. Mechanically fine.
