Description:

Manufactured in October, possibly into November, of 1940, the Walther "ac" code P.38 pistols without a date marking only saw serial production in an estimated range between 7271 and 9840, with approximately 2570 produced, before a date was added to the "ac" code on subsequent production as detailed on page 176 of "The P.38 Pistol: Volume One" by Warren Buxton. These pistols were issued and extensively used during the war, making examples in any condition difficult to obtain. Features fixed blade front and notch rear sights, with the left side of the slide marked "P.38 ac." "Eagle/359" military acceptance proofs present on multiple components. With matching serial numbers on the barrel, slide, and frame along with "994" partial on the underside of the locking lug. Fitted with a pair of ribbed Bakelite grips with "994" partials on the interior and an unnumbered "P.38" marked magazine. Includes "eagle/WaA706" proofed, "gxy 1942" and "P.08" marked leather Luger flap holster, extra unmarked magazine, and generic leather soft case.

Rating Definition:

fine, retaining 70% plus original high polish blue finish with scattered light edge wear, scattered holster pattern wear, and smooth grey patina. The grips are very fine. Holster is fine. Mechanically excellent. It would take some time to find another no date "ac" code Walther P.38 in any condition.
