An evolution of the earlier MAS Model 1949, the Model 1949-56 rifle served as the standard French semi-automatic service rifle until the adoption of the FAMAS in 1979, with this example being chambered in 7.62x51 mm NATO instead of 7.5 mm French. Features adjustable post front and tangent peep rear sights, with a flip-up grenade sight on the front band and sliding range collar on the barrel. The manufacturer and model designation are marked on the left side of the receiver along with overstamped "CAL.7.62/308" caliber markings, "P78" rebuild stamp, and an import mark on the optic attachment rail. Fitted with a smooth birch semi-pistol grip stock with "MAS/1962" marked rubber buttpad and grasping grove forend with smooth top handguard. Includes a APX L.806 scope (No. 2.852) with throw lever mount, leather APX scope carry case, brown leather sling, four extra magazines, extra "MAS/1962" marked buttpad, night sight adapter attachment, APX scope rubber eye piece, original French MAS 1949-56 manual, and NcStar bipod attached to the barrel.

Very fine as arsenal refurbished, retaining 90% plus re-applied parkerized finish with light scattered cycling wear, limited edge wear, and faint spotting. Stock is also very fine as lightly sanded. Scope is very fine with clear optics and crisp reticle. Mechanically excellent.
