The third year of Mauser Luger production during the build-up to World War II, in 1936 the Germans discarded the letter code system and went back to just stamping the plain date on the chamber. Blade front and notch rear sights, "1936" on the chamber, "S/42" on the toggle link, drooped wing "eagle/63" proofs on the extension and barrel and "eagle" firing proofs on the barrel, extension, and breech block. Straw finished small parts, and niter blue springs, pins and screws. All visible serial numbers are matching, minus the unnumbered grips and non-matching blue finished magazine with alloy base numbered "4397/b/+" above an "Eagle/63" stamp on bottom. Includes a June 17, 1945 dated capture certificate identifying this pistol by serial number (minus suffix) to a Corporal Robert Henderson of the U.S. Army 740th Air Material Squadron, 498th Air Service Group. Henderson's exact wartime activities are unrecorded.

Very fine, retains 80% original blue finish with scattered light freckling, some light edge wear, and 60% straw colors on the small parts. Grips are also very fine with scattered nicks and handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
