Description:

James Wilkinson & Son were active at 27 Pall Mall in 1829-1852. This pistol has smoothbore Damascus barrels, a bead front sight on the concave rib which is signed "WILKINSON. LONDON.", London proofs, pierced platinum plugs, swivel mounted ramrod, "WILKINSON" signed on each lock, sliding safeties, primarily scroll and floral engraving, blank silver wrist escutcheon, small compartment in the pommel cap, and checkered wrist. The inside of the case lid has a James Wilkinson & Son trade label, and the case contains a loading/cleaning rod, a three-way flask, an "18" marked ball mold, balls, patches, and cards.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with crisp engraving and markings, 85% plus original brown finish and Damascus twist patterns on the barrel, significant original case colors, 75% plus original blue on the trigger guard, mild oxidation/pitting, and general mild wear. The stock is also very fine and has crisp checkering, mild scratches and dings, and mild overall wear. The case lid is detached at the hinges (pins absent), and the case and accessories are otherwise fine with mild age and storage wear.
