This particular Registered Magnum (reg. no. 4358) is one of 1,518 manufactured with a 6 1/2 inch barrel. The accompanying factory letter states the revolver was shipped on January 12, 1939 and delivered to The Krause Hardware Co. of Cincinnati, Ohio, with a 6 1/2 inch barrel, Call gold bead front sight, square notch rear sight, blue finish, and checkered walnut Magna grips. The included original registration certificate confirms the configuration as listed in the factory letter and indicates the revolver was registered by D.W. Cox of Dayton, Ohio. The rare original certificate shipping tube is also included and is addressed to D.W. Cox of Dayton. Other included documents: the purchase order on a Kruse Hardware Company form, the S&W order form, and S&W invoice. Matching serial numbers appear on the butt, right grip panel, cylinder, and ejector shroud. Comes with a correct S&W model box numbered to a different gun, three bore brushes, and S&W caution leaflet. Provenance: The Dave Ballantyne Collection

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retaining 90% plus original blue finish with a few patches of pitting, high edge wear and a light cylinder drag line. 98% original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger. The grips are very good with a chip and a repair near the bottom on the right panel, minor handling marks, and some wear to the top of the checkering. The box is fine. Mechanically excellent.
