Per the included signed letter from Scott Duff, this Rock Island Arsenal 1903 bolt action rifle was part of his collection for a number of years. "RIA/5-18" dated barrel, early pattern parkerized finish, dual reinforcement bolts and "OHA/1918" cartouche on the straight wrist stock, smooth buttplate and brown leather sling. Also included is a 1918 dated Springfield bayonet with hardwood grip and canvas covered sheath; the Duff letter does not mention a bayonet. Fine, with 85% plus arsenal parkerized finish on barreled action, 30% blue on trigger guard, showing mild oxidization on the magazine cutoff and buttplate, areas of brown patina, and mild handling marks overall. The lightly sanded, reoiled stock is very good, with minor stains and dings, and the sling is strong and supple. Bayonet is also fine. Mechanically excellent.
