Description:

A semi-automatic only copy of the World War II era German Maschinengewehr (MG) 34 general purpose machine gun, built on a new manufactured receiver made by TNW Inc. of Vernonia, Oregon. A recoil-operated, air-cooled design, the MG 34 was adopted by the German army in 1936 and is considered the world's fist true general purpose machine gun, intended for use in a variety of different roles from squad level to vehicle mounts and even aircraft point defense. Due to the MG 34's fine machining and manufacturing requirements along with the associated costs, it was eventually phased out of the role of main line machine gun in favor of the faster firing and more economic MG 42. However, it remained in extensive use up to the end of World War II for its quick change barrel method, which proved more agreeable with vehicle mounts than the MG 42. Features folding blade front and folding elevation adjustable tangent rear sights, ventilated barrel shroud with two bipod attachment points and an anti-aircraft sight base, reversible top cover feed mechanism, left side push lever safety marked "S/F," and two part trigger marked "E/D" (Note: the "D" marked auto position will only fire this rifle in semi-automatic). The barrel is marked for 7.62mm, and a guide block has been installed in the feed tray for the shorter round. With various German style markings on the components, including "dot/1943" on barrel shroud and "bpr/1942" on the top cover. Fitted with ribbed composite grip handles, birch buttstock, and detachable folding bipod. Includes a hobbyist made transportation crate, ill-fitting reproduction Gurttrommel drum magazine, two MG 34/42 pattern metal ammunition boxes, spare barrel, spare feed tray, spare booster, spare latch component, operator's manual, several non-disintegrating links, a Lafette 34 field mount, and a copy of "MG34-MG42: German Universal Machine Gun" by Folke Myrvang.

Rating Definition:

Exceptionally fine as manufactured and assembled from surplus parts by TNW Inc., retaining 90% blue finish with scattered light scrapes, edge wear, and minor spotting/pitting. The stock is fine with three plug repairs and cracks. The accompanying accessories are very fine, while the Lafette 34 mount is fine with chipped paint and scattered light spotting/pitting. Mechanically excellent.
