The included factory letter lists this revolver as being shipped on November 10, 1954, with the caliber marked as .45 Colt. Page 167 of "Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson" third edition lists only 200 of these revolvers as manufactured in .45 Colt. This example is fitted with a target blade front sight, fully adjustable rear sight, and checkered target grips with S&W medallions. Matching serial numbers are stamped on the barrel, cylinder, and butt. Includes original S&W maroon box with "45 COLT" hand marked on the label and "COLT" hand marked on the bottom. Excellent, retaining 99% plus original blue finish with light handling marks and a faint cylinder drag line. Grips are very fine with a couple light dings and scratches and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Box is very fine.
