Manufactured in 1941. This pistol's serial number falls within the 541,103 to 569,725 range of 2,828 pistols sent to the U.S. Office of Strategic Services (housed at the Fowler Building in Rosslyn, Virginia) between April 17, 1944, and September 26, 1944, under "Factory Order No. 4420, War Department Requisition W-19-059-Ord-1038", as discussed on page 81 of "The Colt Pocket Hammerless Automatic Pistols" by Brunner. It is noted on page 129 of the same publication, however, that the following serial number after this pistol (558,814) was issued to Brig. Gen. Richard Lee Harris on July 31, 1971. The included factory letter states this pistol was sold to the U.S. Government and shipped to Property Officer, Supply Division, Office of Strategic Services (OSS), Fowler Building, Rosslyn, Virginia, on August 11, 1944. See lot 1334 for a second Model 1903 in this same shipment. Features fixed blade front and notch rear sights, blued barrel marked "COLT 32 AUTO" on the left side, standard two-line address and patent dates on the left side of the slide with caliber marking on the right and matching serial number on the interior, "U.S. PROPERTY" marking on the right of the frame with "18" on the trigger guard, and the serial number on the left of the frame with "triangle VP" and "4" marked on that side of the trigger guard. Fitted with a pair of checkered walnut grips with silver Colt medallions and blued magazine with "CAL.32/COLT" marked on the underside of the floor plate.

Excellent, retaining 90% plus original blue finish with minor edge wear, minor spotting and faint pitting with light spotting/pitting between the chamber face and barrel, some brown patina showing through the slightly thinning grip straps, and otherwise limited handling wear. The grips are very fine with minor compression wear and defined checkering. Mechanically excellent.
