Description:

Connecticut Shotgun Manufacturing Company developed these small frame double rifles that are truly an amazing feat of manufacturing and represent the ultimate in fine rimfire rifles. Built with blued barrels featuring a beaded blade front sight on a ramped base, fixed notch rear sight with gold centerline on the rear quarter rib which is marked "CAL .22 MAG." in fine gold inlay, "MADE TO ORDER, A.H.FOX" and "KRUPP - FLUID - STEEL" marked on the right and left tubes respectively in gold inlaid lettering, and chambers with automatic ejectors. The barrels are graced by fine wedges of scroll engraving with a single gold band at the breech and muzzle as well as a mother raccoon with five kits behind her on the left tube and a mother squirrel and five kits in tow on the right all inlaid in detailed gold. The barrels are mated with a diminutive Fox boxlock action built specifically for these tiny double rifles. The action displays deep relief scroll engraving with gold inlaid borders surrounding "ANSLEY H. FOX" banners on either side and a trio of game scenes before spilling off of the action onto the toplever which shows a dove in flight, both tangs, and the triggerguard which displays a porcupine inlaid and bordered in gold. The game scenes depict a bush baby and frog on the left side, a possum with its joeys on the underside, and rabbit with its bunny on the right side all cut in fine detail. The engraving is signed on the left of the triggerplate by renowned American Master Engraver Richard Roy. The rifle features a right hand rolled triggerguard, double gold triggers, and a tang mounted automatic safety with gold inlaid "SAFE" indicator. The rifle is mounted with a gorgeous highly figured and fancy fleur-de-lis checkered splinter forend with engraved and gold bordered fittings and an ebony tip inlay as well as a straight grip stock with carving on the flats and behind the wrist checkering, gold inscription oval marked "COOK", and a gold bordered and engraved skeleton buttplate around a checkered bare butt. Included is a wood and leather takedown case with leather lining, oiler, two turnscrews, and cleaning tools. Length of pull 14 5/16 inches. Weight 4 lbs. 6 oz.

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue, coin, and gold finishes with minor handling evidence, crisp engraving, some varnish wear at the comb, and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent. The case is very fine with minor wear. A rare chance to own an exceptional American made small frame double rifle!
