William Buchele (1895-1977) was a talented and influential 20th century artisan who produced a wide array of muzzleloading firearms and related items such as powder horns and tomahawks. He has remained highly influential as the author of the book "Recreating the American Longrifle" which has helped guide other generations of rifle builders. This pistol's rifled straight octagon barrel has a dovetailed silver blade front sight, dovetailed notch rear sight "W. Buchele" signed on top. The barrel and Russ Hamm lock have an antiqued brown finish. The furniture is brass and primarily features raised floral scroll patterns along with an eagle on the pommel cap. The curly maple stock has raised relief scroll and floral carving at the barrel tang and nickel-silver floral scroll inlays with engraved accents.

Rating Definition:

Very fine overall with nearly all of the original brown finish, some light oxidation and tool marks, and generally minor wear. The stock has a few small repaired cracks and similar flaws that appear to be from the original build and displays attractive figure and distinct carving. Mechanically fine.
