Description:

This blunderbuss was produced c. 1700 by Charles Perry and features a stunning rootwood stock which was then in fashion. The brass barrel is signed "C-PERRY" on top and has scroll engraving, a "heart/CP" maker's mark and London proofs on the upper left at the breech, and an engraved iron tang. The bore flares from an estimated 1 inch to 1 3/8 inches at the muzzle. The later lock is marked "BALES" and has a frizzen spring roller and light engraving. The furniture is brass, and the side plate is an attractive pierced scroll pattern.

Rating Definition:

Very good as restored, including mounting a later lock, with attractive aged patina on the brass barrel and furniture, dark patina on the lock, minor oxidation/pitting, and general mild wear. The stock is also very good and has stunning figure, a spliced repair at the nose of the lock, a few cracks, and general mild wear. Mechanically fine.
