Manufactured in 1891, this very fine, commercial Colt Model 1889 Navy revolver is in the original Model 1889 configuration with counter clockwise rotating cylinder and the scarce and desirable three inch barrel. The included factory letter confirms the configuration, grips not listed, as well as shipment to Shoverling, Daly & Gales in New York on 22 September 1891. The top of the barrel has the standard three-line Colt address and patent dates, while the left is marked "COLT. D.A. 38". The assembly number "899" is marked on the bottom of the barrel, rear face of the cylinder, frame, crane, and cylinder latch, while the serial number is on the butt. It has a blade front sight and groove rear sights, and is fitted with a pair of smooth pearl grips.

Very fine, retains 85% plus of the untouched original nickel finish with some scattered light flaking and light wear, primarily on edges. The grips are also very fine with a minor chip at the bottom of the right panel and some light handling marks. The cylinder lockup is loose, otherwise mechanically fine.
