Description:

This correct five-digit serial numbered example was manufactured in late 1942 as part of the first main-run production block of M1 Carbines from GM's Inland Division in the 101-999,000 range, with an Inland barrel dated "11-42", "IS" marked blade front and "S" two-leaf peep rear sights, unmarked Type I barrel band, "IO" two-rivet handguard, high-wood stock with a flaming bomb and crossed cannons stamps along with "LA" in the sling cutout, "I" shaped oiler cut on the right side of the buttstock, machined Inland trigger guard, unmarked serrated pushbutton safety, "W-I" magazine catch, "HI" hammer, "RI" sear, "PI" operating rod, "IO" flat-top bolt, and fitted with a tan canvas sling, oiler and "I.I." magazine.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retains 85% original parkerized finish, 85% original blue finish on the bolt, with scattered light freckling and a few small patches of light surface corrosion. Magazine retains 90% original blue finish. Stock is also very fine, with scattered light scratches and dents, a few scuffs at the tip of the forend, and defined edges. Mechanically excellent.
