Description:

Manufactured in December 1942, a year after the United States' forced entry into World War II. Features winged blade front sight and type 2 "lock-bar" rear sight assembly, unmarked narrow-base gas cylinder with single-slot plug, unmodified "D35382 6 SA" marked operating rod, stamped short fork follower rod, "12" follower, and "D28287-12SA/B4A" bolt. The barrel is marked "3-S-A-11-42" on the right under the operating rod, with bright chamber. The trigger housing is marked "D28290-8-SA," with a "C46008-3 SA" hammer, "C46015-9SA" safety, and unmarked milled trigger guard. Fitted with a smooth pistol grip stock bearing a boxed "S.A./E.McF." (Col. Earl McFarland) inspection cartouche, small "keyhole" proof, and "crossed cannons" ordnance wheel stamped on the left of the wrist, with a circled serif "P" firing proof on the underside. Includes a steel hooked Model 1907 sling marked "MILSCO/1943" on both straps.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retaining 97% original parkerized finish with crisp roll marks, minor edge wear, limited spotting, and dried grease. The re-oiled stock is exceptionally fine with clear and detailed cartouches, limited minor scrapes, and minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
