Manufactured in 1940 per page 104 of Nigel Brown's "British Gunmakers Volume One- London". Built with blued steel barrels with a single steel bead on the raised matted solid rib, 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors, and a light band of leafy engraving at the breech. The casehardened sidelock action displays masterfully executed English bouquet and scroll engraving making fantastic use of negative space, which extends onto the blued toplever and triggerguard, with "E.J. Churchill" on both sides with "Field/Model" curved around a gold inlaid "XXV". Fitted with double triggers, and automatic tang safety with gold inlaid "SAFE". Mounted in a nicely figured, beautifully contrasted multipoint forend with engraved fittings and Anson button release, and straight grip stock with teardrop flats and checkered bare butt. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bores nine inches from the breech both proofed at .729 inches and measured .738/.736 inches; choke constriction .007/.012 inches; minimum wall thickness .030/.028 inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at the comb; 1 15/16 inch drop at the heel; weight 6 lbs. 7 oz.

Very fine, retaining 90% original blue finish with some light handling marks and some light spotting on the rib. The action displays attractive case colors in protected areas with most of the attractively aged varnish remaining, a couple light spots, and crisp engraving. Wood is also very fine with some dings and scratches and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
