The included factory letter confirms the current configuration of 4 3/4 inch barrel chambered for .38 Special, with nickel finish and grips not listed when shipped alone to Charles Carter, owner of Carter's Gun Shop off U.S. Route 30, in Shabbona, Illinois, on June 10, 1959. On page 102 of "Colt Single Action Revolver Handbook 1955-1975", author Don Wilkerson notes that of all the .38 Special chambered Second Generation Single Action Army revolvers produced, only around 113 were manufactured with nickel finish and 4 3/4 inch barrels, making it the least common variation for the caliber. Assembly number "201" is found on the loading gate and back of the frame. Matching serial numbers are on the frame, trigger guard, back strap, and "296" partials on the inside of both grips as well as on the cylinder front face. Includes a replacement Colt box, reproduction "NICKEL FINISH" label, cleaning rod, and manual, and a numbers matching State of New Jersey handgun purchase permit, dated March 8, 1996, registering it to Robert J. Kaminski (1942-2011) of Gloucester City, New Jersey, who was a former federal firearms dealer.

Excellent overall, retaining 98% plus original nickel finish with bright scratches, a minor cylinder drag line, limited scuffing, and crisp grip checkering. Mechanically excellent. The box is very fine with minor edge wear.
