Description:

Manufactured in 1905, this is an exceptionally fine example of a Winchester Model 1894 takedown rifle. The rifle was likely special ordered as a takedown considering the special order express sights that appear to be factory original and the wood that is slightly higher than standard grade, a common complimentary upgrade from Winchester for rifles with minor special order features. The top barrel flat is marked with the standard two-line address and patent dates, as well as the caliber marking at the breech. The upper tang is marked with the three-line model and trademark information and the serial number is on the bottom of the receiver. It is fitted with a Lyman beaded blade front sight and a three-leaf "express" notch rear sight with platinum inlaid centerlines. It is mounted with a nicely figured smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retains 95% plus of the bright, original, high polish, blue finish with a few scattered specks of light surface oxidation, 97% plus of the vibrant original case colors, and 95% plus of the bright original nitre blue on the loading gate. The highly figured wood is excellent with a few scattered light handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
