Description:

Per the Madis serial number data published by Winchester, this rifle is legally an antique. The factory letter indicates the serial number was applied on March 1, 1902, the rifle was received in the warehouse on March 21, 1902, and it shipped in order 133301 on April 19, 1902. The letter confirms the octagon barrel in .30 caliber, plain trigger, and takedown configuration. The rifle has the standard two-line address, two-line nickel steel marking, and "30 W.C.F." marked on the barrel. The upper tang is marked with the three-line model/trademark/patent date marking and the serial number is on the bottom of the receiver. Fitted with dovetailed German silver blade front and three-leaf rear sights. Mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Extremely fine, retains 95% bright original high polish blue finish, 95% case colors on the lever and hammer, 98% original nitre blue on the loading gate, and the buttplate showing faint traces of the original case color patterns with the balance thinned to a smooth grey patina. The wood is very fine with very minimal handling evidence and the buttplate slightly overhanging the wood at the toe. Mechanically excellent.
