Found in the 1-91417 and manufactured from 1888-1902 serial number range, this .32 Safety Hammerless 1st Model "bicycle gun" has a rare special order 2 inch "bicycle" barrel with the correct two-line S&W legend on the left side. The factory letter states the revolver was shipped on October 15, 1898 and delivered to A. Lovell & Co. of New York City and confirms the nickel finish, 2 inch barrel, round blade front sight, fixed rear sight, and mother of pearl round butt grips with silver S&W medallions. This was a single gun shipment. Matching serial numbers appear on the butt, cylinder, and barrel. The tan pebbled paper cover S&W box has a very faint serial number on the bottom which appears to be matching and a partial end label. The inside of the box lid has the S&W directions label which is overstamped in red ink "N.B.-WE DO NOT GUARAN-/TEE OUR REVOLVERS WHEN/USED WITH SMOKELESS OR/NITRO POWDERS." Includes a bore brush. Excellent, retaining 99% plus original nickel plating with a few light handling marks. The trigger displays muted original case colors. Nearly all of the original blue finish remains on the trigger guard. The grips are also excellent with a couple tiny stress lines at the S&W medallions and highly attractive fiery colors. The box is very fine. A very desirable 2 inch barrel S&W .32 Safety Hammerless revolver in exceedingly high condition.
